The LPU-2/P was one of the life preserver tested during the evaluation which take place between 1970 and 1971.

The vest actually tested was Italian - manufactured by Pirelli - on this page a US model.
As the other ones the LPU-2 was tested on ground, onboard various Swiss AF aircrafts (including simulated "unintentional" cockpit inflations) and in the pool.
